Applications

The YG1 86595TE solid carbide end mill, measuring 5/8″ in diameter with a 1-5/8″ length of cut, is designed for finishing operations requiring both rigidity and precision. Its 5-flute geometry paired with a 45° helix angle and YG TiAlN Extreme coating delivers excellent surface finish and effective chip evacuation on steel and related materials. This combination reduces vibration and extends tool life during light radial stock removal, adhering to recommended finishing practices for low carbon steels such as 1018 and A36. Suitable for machining steel (ISO P), stainless steel (ISO M), HRSA (ISO S), and cast iron (ISO K), the tools geometry and coating work together effectively. The lack of a corner radius means edge chipping is minimized through the high flute count and coating toughness rather than radius protection. This end mill is not intended for use on non-ferrous materials (ISO N) due to coating unsuitability, which may result in rapid wear. It is also unsuitable for heavy roughing or interrupted cuts where a corner radius or alternate flute configuration would be advantageous.
