Applications

The YG1 86593TH solid carbide finishing end mill, with a 1/2″ diameter and 1-1/4″ length of cut, provides balanced rigidity and reach for finishing stainless steel and heat-resistant superalloys (HRSA). Its 5-flute design paired with a 45° helix angle and Hardslick coating promotes excellent surface finish and chip evacuation in these challenging materials. This tool reduces built-up edge and extends tool life during finishing operations requiring tight tolerances and smooth surfaces. The absence of a corner radius focuses cutting forces on sharp edges, necessitating caution to avoid chipping in interrupted cuts. While optimized for stainless steel and HRSA, it is unsuitable for steel (ISO P) or non-ferrous materials due to coating unsuitability and is not intended for roughing or heavy stock removal.
