Applications

Measuring 3/4″ in diameter with a 1″ length of cut, the YG1 85598TC solid carbide finishing end mill features five flutes and a TiCN coating, offering rigidity and precision with a 1.33 length-to-diameter ratio. This size combination ensures excellent control and stability during finishing operations on steel, particularly low carbon steels like 1018/A36, following recommended parameters for fine surface finishes. Its 45° helix angle, five-flute design, and TiCN coating enhance chip evacuation and surface finish quality. The variable pitch geometry reduces vibration and chatter, promoting smooth cuts and consistent tool life. This tool is ideal for finishing with light radial stock removal and tight tolerances. Avoid using this end mill on HRSA (ISO S) materials, as the TiCN coating is poorly matched and will degrade quickly. It is not intended for heavy roughing or interrupted cuts where corner radius tools better prevent chipping.
