The YG1 55584TC solid carbide finishing end mill measures 3/8″ in diameter with a 1-3/4″ length of cut, delivering a 4.67:1 length-to-diameter ratio for rigidity and precision during deeper milling operations. Its 4-flute design combined with a 30° helix angle and TiCN coating offers balanced chip evacuation and enhanced wear resistance, ideal for smooth finishing passes on steel and cast iron. Recommended for free-machining steel, this tool enhances tool life and surface finish quality. Additionally, it is suitable for profiling and finishing in non-ferrous materials, where the moderate helix angle limits tool grabbing. The absence of a corner radius requires cautious handling to prevent chipping in interrupted cuts while allowing sharp edge detail. The TiCN coating is not well suited for use with HRSA materials, so avoid use in such alloys to prevent premature failure. Do not use this end mill on heat-resistant superalloys or materials outside its specified range, as its coating and geometry are not optimized for those applications.
