Applications

The YG1 55558TC solid carbide finishing end mill combines a 1/8″ diameter with a 1″ length of cut, offering excellent rigidity and reach for detailed milling in smaller sizes. Its 30° helix angle and 4-flute geometry work in harmony with the TiCN coating to optimize chip evacuation and surface finish quality, particularly in free-machining steels. This tool is well suited for general milling applications involving easy-machining steels, following recommended combinations that enhance performance and tool longevity. While the absence of a corner radius means edge chipping is less concerning, maintaining sharpness during finishing passes remains important. Because the TiCN coating is not a good match with heat-resistant superalloys (HRSA ISO S), this end mill should not be used on such materials to avoid premature wear or failure.
