Applications

The YG1 33593TF finishing end mill, with a 1/2″ diameter and 5/8″ length of cut, features a stub length to diameter ratio of 1.25 that offers exceptional rigidity and precision during finishing operations in cast iron. Its 30° helix angle combined with a 4-flute geometry provides a balance between efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action, reducing vibration and improving surface quality. The TiAlN Futura coating enhances both wear resistance and thermal stability, extending tool life when machining abrasive cast iron materials. This tool is particularly well matched for finishing gray cast iron, where its coating and geometry follow recommended combinations for roughing and finishing short-chipping abrasive materials. Its double-ended design allows economical use, and its center cutting capability supports plunge cutting and slotting. Avoid use on non-ferrous materials, as the TiAlN Futura coating is not ideal and will deteriorate quickly. Additionally, its geometry and coating make it less suitable for heavy roughing in steels or stainless steels compared to tools designed specifically for those materials.
