Applications

Ideal for small-scale machining, the YG1 7554 solid carbide finishing end mill features a 1/16″ diameter and a 3/16″ length of cut. Its 4-flute configuration, 30° helix angle, and bright coating produce a sharp cutting edge optimized for profiling and finishing on non-ferrous metals such as brass and bronze. The tool’s length-to-diameter ratio of 3.0 provides a good balance between rigidity and reach, helping to limit deflection during detailed operations.
The bright coating coupled with the end mill’s geometry reduces friction and prevents material grabbing, which is essential when working with free-machining brass and acrylic plastics. With its 4-flute design, it delivers a superior surface finish while efficiently evacuating chips. Note that the lack of a corner radius means this tool requires careful handling to avoid chipping during interrupted cuts.
For hard steels, a coated end mill is generally preferable. Its design is tailored for non-ferrous materials, especially in tasks demanding sharp, polished tools for precise edge finishing and routing.
