Applications

The YG1 84588TF solid carbide finishing end mill, sized 7/16″ diameter by 1″ length of cut, provides a rigid and accurate solution for finishing steel and related materials. Featuring six flutes, a 40° helix angle, and a TiAlN Futura coating, it delivers superior surface finishes and efficient chip evacuation, reducing tool wear during light radial stock removal. Its 1″ length of cut balances reach and stiffness, minimizing deflection for consistent dimensional accuracy. The tool is optimized for finishing low carbon steels such as 1018 and A36, supported by higher flute counts and variable pitch for enhanced finish quality. The absence of a corner radius focuses on smooth, continuous cuts. This end mill should not be employed on non-ferrous materials, as the TiAlN Futura coating is not well matched and degrades quickly. It is also less suitable for heavy roughing or interrupted cuts where a corner radius or alternative geometry would better prevent chipping.
