Applications

Ideal for finishing operations in steel and similar materials, the YG1 85558TF solid carbide end mill has a 1/8″ diameter and a 1/4″ length of cut. Its 5-flute design, coupled with a 45° helix angle and TiAlN Futura coating, enhances chip evacuation and surface finish, particularly in low carbon steel 1018/A36, matching the recommended finishing parameters for these materials. The stub length combined with a high flute count reduces deflection and vibration, supporting tight tolerance machining and smooth finishes. The TiAlN Futura coating provides improved wear resistance and thermal stability, increasing tool life during finishing passes. This tools sharp cutting edge, lacking a corner radius, demands precise feed control to prevent chipping. This end mill should not be used on non-ferrous materials, as the coating is not a good match and degrades rapidly. Its design and coating are unsuitable for heavy roughing or interrupted cuts in harder materials beyond the specified range.
